Did I mention the move?
Um, yep, I think I may have done a million times once or twice on facebook and twitter but just in case any of you missed it we are #MovingtoDevon.
I am just a little bit excited. Hence the hashtag.
We have decided the time is right to take Casa B out of the rat-race and head for the beach.
Currently we are playing the waiting game and our actual moving date is in the hands of the solicitors. We have accepted an offer on our house here in Bristol and had our offer accepted on the new house in Devon. And now we wait. Impatiently. To be honest I should actually be glad of the time as I now have a million and one things that I need to look into.
Firstly, removal firms. When we moved into this house, the first house Mr B and I have jointly owned, we were moving from a pretty tiny two bedroom flat. He we decided that we didn’t need a removal firm, we could do it all ourselves. We didn’t have THAT much stuff after all. Several bruised limbs, broken crockery, smashed glassware, wrongly-labelled-boxes later we were barely on speaking terms by the time we crossed over the Welsh border.
At that point I swore…never again. And I really did mean it. The thought of packing up all the extra stuff we have accumulated in the last six years, along with all of the kids stuff, literally brings me out in a cold sweat. Nope, this time we are calling in the professionals. I just need to find some.
Second on my #MovingToDevon to do list is finding suitable childcare. One of the huge advantages of city life is that it there are a great number of childcare options available for families in which both parents need to work. There seem to be less options in Devon and an awful lot of nursery care appears to be term-time only. I know that there must be a solution out there somewhere but I really need to spend some time and find it.
Third on my list is to research kitchens. We are planning a total overhaul of the existing kitchen and initially I thought this would be my dream come true. I have had mages of the perfect kitchen in my head for years. A large wooden table where the kids will sit and do their homework while I make tea. A Belfast sink. Granite worktops. Now that I am actually able to choose, within a fairly strict budget, I am finding this extremely hard. There are just SO MANY options and it makes my head spin.
Even though the knowledge that I am not even close to ticking off any of these jobs keeps me awake at nights, let alone the million other jobs that I have not yet written down, I am still ridiculously happy.
We are, after all….#MovingToDevon
This post is brought to you in association with Care.com but all words are my own.

Going from Bristol to Devon… that’s even further West! Why do you hate London so much?
And I’d love to see these kitchen mages you’ve got in your head, sounds very Game of Thronesy.
