Music Therapy

October 27, 2011 By jbmumofone 8 Comments

I have been tagged in this particular meme by Her Awesomeness Mother Venting herself.  I have now discovered that she walked down the aisle to Arcade Fire-Wake Up.  Can this woman get any cooler?

So, Music Therapy.  In this I have been asked to pick three songs that move me.  Whether it be move me to tears, joy or my bootie on the dance floor I think has been left up to me.  But JUST THREE? Really?  I can probably name about twenty.  Now I understand my Dad grumbling when I asked him to suggest ten songs for me, which you can check out HERE should you so wish.

Ok, I think I finally have my top three.

My first choice would have to be ‘One Week’ by the marvelous Barenaked Ladies.  Mr B and I saw a fabulous band play a cover of this on our second date, which pretty much saved the day after a DISASTROUS first date.  I may tell you all about that some other time, if you are very good.  Anyway, I guess you could say it became ‘OUR’ song.  Nauseating I know, but it is special to us and the same fantastic band kindly came and played it again at our wedding for our first dance.  Ironically, it is all about fighting. No soppy slow dancing for us.  We threw some shapes!

Second would have to be ‘Your song” by Sir Elton.  I haven’t always been the biggest Elton fan, though clearly the man is a genius.  However, as soon as W was born this song really started to tug at my heartstrings and normally brings the odd tear or two.

And finally, closing out my top 3, now that winter is coming would have to be ‘White Winter Hymnal’ by the Fleet Foxes.  I LOVE this band and was lucky enough to see them live in Dublin.  This one makes me feel all kind of warm and snuggly, especially when it is cold outside.  Enjoy.

So there you have it, my Music Therapy.  Apologies some are not the official videos but had some trouble embedding them, *cough, copyright, ahem*.  But if you wish they are available on You Tube.

So, who to tag next.  I think I am in the mood for some musical mischief from the wonderful…

FiveGoBlogging, Mum2babyinsomniac and ActuallyMummy.  Bring on the tunes girls!

Good choices, missus! Even the Barenaked Ladies 😉 Agreed that Your Song seems to tug at heartstrings when you have a baby… *sob* *sniff*

Great choices – well done for not choosing the Ellie Goulding version of Your Song, her voice is irritating! Loved this meme, thanks for the tag 🙂 x

Loving the Bare Naked Ladies – totally awesome; I passed Elton on by but stopped off at Fleet Foxes and poured myself a warming drink, leant back in my chair and closed my eyes 🙂
Hard act to follow but I’ll have a go!
    Thank you x
