W and I are visiting the grandparents this week as my sister and her family are over from Canada for Easter. To say that they are a little bit excited to have their three grandsons, all together, in their house for the week would be a slight understatement.
Though perhaps they won’t be quite as excited come the end of the week.
The excitement does not end with them though.
Apart from having some wonderful time with my beautiful nephews, a stay with the grandparents generally also means:
- A few lie-ins. It is a known fact that Grannys like to do breakfast.
- Babysitters for at least one night out.
- Very little cooking.
- New toy/shirt/books for W.
- A bit more time to do some blog-browsing, something I have missed doing recently.
Grandparents are ace.
I can feel a lie-in on the horizon, *Yawns*.

Thanks Mary. I guess yours are a long way away?
Yup, sadly so. Must admit I went searching for cheap flights after reading your post this morning!
Oh, did you find any?
Sounds like you’ll have a lovely week! I’m visiting my grandma this week to.
Hope you have a great time
You too honey. Hope you are in for a bit of spoiling!
Make sure you get plenty of egg and bacon sandwiches down you. Grandparents love frying stuff.
I know. Good for the soul. Not so great for the waistline.
I loved it when my Mum would come and stay. Such bliss to be child-free for an hour. Now I have all the hours I want because the boys are grown up. I miss them 🙁
There is just no pleasing us really is there 😉
Phew! I just pitched up with I spy post and got confused! Hmmmm how can I turn my R post into a D post! I’ll be back later 😉

Ah honey, book yourself out a grandparents-in-charge weekend. We all need them x
Grandparents totally rock. I have no kids, but my mother’s mom was my favorite person in the whole wide world–the best playmate, my best friend, a great listener, a great educator, a hilarious story-teller… She brightened every room she walked into. It’s been ten years since she passed, and I still miss her. Great, great post!
She sounds like a wonderful woman. Thanks for stopping by.
