We have been a little bit spoilt again this month with some lovely items to review.
First is this lovely framed canvas from Snapbox UK. This really does stand out from other canvas prints as it is encased within a beautiful wood frame with a black enamel finish. It can therefore be displayed free-standing, unusual for a canvas, but also comes with a suitable hook for wall-hanging if desired.
The Snapbox website could not have been easier to use and you can even upload your photos straight from your mobile. There are a range of effects to choose from including both black and white and sepia filters which I think would look amazing against the black frame. My canvas arrived, very well packaged, within just a few days and we are really delighted with it. My only hope is that they might consider expanding their range to include alternative colour box-frames.
Being huge Miffy fans we were delighted to receive This wonderful Christmas book from her creator, Dick Bruna. This was first published in 1963 and , to mark it’s 50th anniversary, it has been republished in this stunning gold and white edition. It really is beautiful. The nativity story is so wonderfully illustrated and it is fast becoming the boy’s favourite bedtime book in the run up to Christmas.
As well as the stylish golden spine and debossed lettering, it also contains an integral ribbon bookmark with a cut-out Bruna angel attached, so pretty! I think this would make such a lovely Christmas gift for children and we shall truly treasure our copy. It is available at Waterstones, Amazon and all good bookshops now.
With the recent change in the weather we have found ourselves cooped up indoors quite a bit. As anyone with a toddler knows this does nothing to improve their mood and can prove somewhat of a challenge. Luckily this month we were rescued by the arrival of a Rainy Day Fun Pack from Family Camping Reviews. With UK children expected to spend almost a quarter of their lives watching non-work-related screen technology they are on a mission to help us all switch off the TV, pack away the laptops, and have some creative and imaginative fun with our kids.
We were super excited when our pack arrived and we discovered a yoyo, colouring pens and paper, a mini game of twister, animal mask, finger puppet, balloons, whoopee cushion, bubbles and more. The boy and I have had lots of fun and it has been a welcome break from CBeebies. You can read more about The Rainy Day Fun Pack here.
Finally, we were delighted to receive a selection of Babar books by Jean De Brunhoff. These were a huge favourite of mine as a child and are fast becoming a favourite of W’s too. They are also available from Amazon.
As A.A.Milne writes in his introduction,
“If you love elephants you will love Babar and Celeste. If you have never loved elephants you will love them now. If you who are grown-up have never been fascinated by a picture-book before, then this is the one which will fascinate you.”
And one lucky reader will be able to see for themselves as I am giving away one copy of The Story of Babar, with a preface by A.A.Milne, and a Babar i-phone 5 case as shown below. To enter simply leave me a comment telling me your favourite childhood book AND follow the instructions in the Rafflecopter below.
