This month Center Parcs are asking us to sit down with the little ones and record some of our special memories of this Summer. Steph, a Center Parcs Community Manager has some great ideas on how to get creative with this and below is my favourite tip of hers:
“Write down your memories and pop them in an empty jar. Hang onto the jar until next summer, and you can open it and reminisce, or even get some inspiration!”
So this is what we decided to do and, as it turned out, we already had the perfect jar! You can find out how to make your own here.
The boy and I sat down and had a flick through our photos from the summer and he chose a few of his favourite memories. These are our top five:
Playing in the swimming pool with Granny and Grandad in Greece
Eating birthday cake in the sun on Little Miss’ first birthday.
Seeing a proper pirate ship – YAR!
Picnics in the park.
Eating ice lollies! We made these as part of the last Center Parcs challenge and you can find out how to make them here.
W’s list also included:
- Riding my bike
- Going to the beach with Grandma and Grandad
- Playing in the park with Granny and Grandad
- Riding my scooter
- Going to the aquarium
- Going to the zoo
- Playing football with Daddy
We have now written each one out on small strips of paper and stored away in our jar ready for next summer.
What have your little people enjoyed doing most this summer? Do let me know below.
I’m a Center Parcs Family Blogger and have visited Longleat village with my family. If you want to enter to win a place as a wildcard winner just go to the challenge page to find out how
This is a fabulous idea, we started one at the beginning of the year to open on NYE and go back through what we did, it’s getting quite full now
I bet! Wow that is great to keep it up for a whole year.
What a nice idea, your little one has done well. Mich x
We have had a lot of fun this summer. The fabulous weather certainly helped too!
Ooh what a pretty jar! Lovely idea though. We are doing a memory scrapbook for the summer but I like the idea of having ideas to inspire us for the following year
I love the idea of a scrapbook and can’t wait to make one when the kids are a bit bigger.
Awww, that is so cute and a lovely idea.
It is a great idea from them and we have really enjoyed this Center Parcs challenge.
What a lovely idea Jen – we need to do something like this!
It will definitely be fun getting it out again next summer for inspiration.
What a brilliant idea – I love the idea of looking back on the things you enjoyed. We have a memory box that we keep things like tickets and wristnbands in from the places we’ve been but nothing that captures the simple things x x
I made Mr B a memory box for Fathers’ Day last year. A bigger one for the whole family would be a great idea.
I started a “Happiness Jar” back in January adn everyday I write down one thing from the day that makes me happy, just before I go to sleep. Its amazing how, even on the rubbish days, you can find one happy thing. Would love to have done this with my Smalls when they were younger. Always fun to look back on!
Oh I love the idea of a happiness jar. I might have to give this a go.
I meant to do a journal this year but haven’t bought a replacement for my printer.I should of just writing it any way and added photos later.Like Tanya I also wanted to do a daily journal with bits like cinema stubs, little things the kids say, drawings and writing etc.I know it’ll be a great heirloom of mour life.I must get organised and do this.
Lots of fun summer activities here
This is a great idea – I am always looking for inspiration every summer as its so hard to think of things to do with the kids – now I can draw on my own experiences for ideas! Love the jar as well 😀
P.S. Thanks so much for linking up to the Parenting Pin in Party this week my dear, forgot to say that! 😉
LOL, not one of our better craft efforts but we had fun!
