Children’s Artwork: Ireland

Children’s Artwork: Ireland

Fellow blogger Sarah from Boo, Roo and Tigger too recently started a really lovely new linky that I could not resist joining in with.  Each week, on a Thursday, she shares some artwork from one of her children. The boy is at that lovely age where all of his art is completely random.  There are no real lines, no structure and I know this is something I will want to look back on as he gets older. The trouble is there is just so much of it it is hard to know where to keep it all.  So, I hope that by joining in with this then at least some of it will be preserved forever on line. This ...

Toddler Craft: Super Simple Christmas Cards

This craft is great fun with toddlers and it is so simple to do. The boy, having overcome his initial fear, is still loving to paint and his favourite painty tool is cotton wool balls. We recently made these super cute Halloween Monster Cards and I thought perhaps it was time we thought about Christmas.  I know, I know, I literally start the countdown in October! So, we decided to make some Christmas Cards and discovered cotton wool was perfect for splodging out some Christmas trees! Simply splodge out your tree shape with some green paint on a white card. Next add some adhesive gems ...

Halloween Monster Cards

If you are looking for some simple Halloween crafts to make with the children these scary monster cards could not be easier. The boy now loves to paint with cotton wool so we made a few coloured smudges for the monster bodies on a piece of white card.   We then added the all-important googley eyes and finally I drew on some limbs in black marker. Voila... Spooktacularly simple. For more Halloween Craft Ideas why not check out my page here or follow me on pinterest. Happy crafting folks. Linking up to: ...

How to Make a Cardboard Box Car

How to Make a Cardboard Box Car

This cardboard box car was so very easy to make and made the toddler so very happy. I had been saving the box for a while intending to do something with it.  Eventually Mr B kind of insisted that I did as my pile of accumulated rubbish craft supplies was reaching momentous proportions and threatening to take over the dining room completely. This week I finally decided to turn this cardboard box into a car for the boy and here is how to do it: Take one large cardboard box... Cut off the two longest side flaps and one shorter end-flap, retaining the fourth end-flap. Fold this ...

Toddler Craft: Paper Bag Puppets

Toddler Craft: Paper Bag Puppets

This toddler craft of paper bag puppets is something any toddler will enjoy and is so simple to do.  This week was the first time I had been on my own with both the toddler and the baby and this was a great activity that allowed me to have a bit of indoor fun with W while the baby slept. I actually bought the supplies as a boxed set from my local Aldi but they could easily be assembled from odd bits and pieces left over from other craft projects. To make these paper bag puppets you will need: Paper Bags Craft Glue Glue spreaders A selection of materials to decorate which ...

Pom Pom Painting!

Pom Pom Painting!

I have been trying to help the boy to get over his fear of painting and we had some success last week using toilet rolls to do some printing. After posting this I received a lovely comment from Shaunna on Google Plus who has the most wonderful blog, Fantastic Fun and Learning.  Her site is full of fantastic ideas for children ranging in age from babies right through to kindergarten kids. If you are ever stuck for inspiration I highly recommend that you pop over and have a look. She suggested, since W does not like to get his hands dirty, to try painting with clothes pegs and pom poms as ...

Colour Matching for Toddlers

Colour Matching for Toddlers

W is now pretty happy identifying most colours and one of the games which I found helped with this is as simple as can be. He just loves to play with OXO cubes! Once he has finished eating I will often grab the boxes from the cupboard, red, yellow and green, and place them in front of him. We will then tip them all out, his favourite part... ...and I will encourage him to put them back into the right coloured box. He is quite happy to to do this over and over, tipping them out, and re-sorting into appropriate boxes... ...even building towers with them. This also allows me time ...
