It struck me today that I am perhaps not as enlightened and independent a female as I may have thought. Today a job arose. A pretty simple job to be fair, but one that I instinctively ran away shrank from.
We are in the process of reclaiming transforming our back garden. It has been somewhat neglected for over a year and the neighbourhood cats visit way more often than we do, the weeds are approaching the skyline and we may very well soon require a machete to get to the back gate.
So, the solution…dig up the lawn. It appeared a good idea at the time since I went a bit mental with the weed-killer last summer and a new start seemed in order. But what do you do with all that turf? Suddenly we have 20+ refuse sacks of old grass and mud that need moving from garden. to car, to dump.
They aren’t particularly heavy sacks.
Or even that dirty.
But INSTINCTIVELY I KNEW this was not a job for me.
I may have planned and created this mess but disposal just FEELS like it is a mans job.
Like putting out the bins.
And washing the car.
Am I wrong?
And no, this is NOT because my husband may be somewhat crap at certain maman-de-jour type celebrations.
Honest.
Hope his back doesn’t give out.

Hehe! We have the same job to do, I’ve been putting it off for about a year. [Boring question]Will you be double digging, or will single suffice? Think I have to do the former 🙁

I am going for single. Unless I need to bury something/one 😉

I think he made his (flower) bed 😉
I know, that’s a terrible joke, sorry. *hangs head in shame*

Mahahahaha! Is yours forgiven yet?

I hate gardening. We had an insane amount of brambles on ours, along with plenty of those blasted vine things, and I managed to ruin the lawn from digging them up.
It’s really lumpy now so cutting it is annoying. And then after it is cut the ground is really bare. There isn’t so much grass growing, it’s more a kind of leafy thing.

Your garden maintenance skills sound on a par with mine.
Hence the need for a new lawn.

Perhaps we should consider decking.
Nah!
