We were delighted earlier this summer when we were asked to review a Trunki suitcase for Idealo. They kindly sent W a Green T-Rex Trunki suitcase for use over the summer holidays.
For those who have yet to see them the Trunki is a small colourful suitcase designed specifically for children. Each has a fun design, in our case a dinosaur. It has fast become one of his favoured posessions and has imaginatively been nick-named Rex. So far we have taken Rex on trips to stay with both grandparents and actually played with it a great deal at home too pulling it along, and riding on it across, the lounge floor.
The pull cord is very simple to use and as it is pretty lightweight it is easy for a toddler to pull along. It has also been designed so that it is small enough for a toddler to sit astride it and be pulled along when tired, and as is often the case in airports, grumpy and in need of some entertainment.
My only criticism would be that as it is so small you cannot pack an awful lot inside it so would not be suitable to carry a weeks worth of holiday clothes for example. However, it is ideal for carrying a small amount of toys, books and snacks and to be effectively used as your child’s hand luggage when traveling, potentially freeing up some space for your own stuff in yours! The only problem I can envisage in using it as hand luggage is the lack of any outside pockets meaning it has to be opened fully to access any of it’s contents.
On the whole we are pretty impressed with it and I think it could really help in diffusing the odd traveling-toddler-tantrum. Fingers crossed.
Disclosure: No payment was received for this post however W was supplied with a T-Rex Trunki free of charge for the purpose of this review.

Tbh that’s why we have never bought one because of the lack of space inside. Guess it carries more than a pushchair though.

Yes, I think definitely more for hand-luggage than cabin-baggage. I think the amusement value and the ride-along-ability are the best bits 🙂
