Now here is a product I was delighted to review! The rather lovely folks over at chocchick.com recently sent me two of their wonderful chocolate making starter kits to try out.
W and I had great fun making chocolates at home which not only turned out to be delicious but are naturally high in anti-oxidants, gluten free, dairy free, soya free and refined sugar free. And they couldn’t have been easier to make.
We opened up the Choc Chicos Chocolate Kit for Kids to discover all the ingredients we would need:
- Organic cocoa powder
- Organic cocoa butter
- Sweet Freedom, a natural low GL sweetener made from 100% fruit
We followed the suggestion in the simple recipe booklet of adding a few dried sultanas and cranberries and W eagerly set about filling our ice-cube tray with these. The kit did include small paper cases but we decided to make ours heart shaped.
While he beavered away I set about melting the cocoa butter in a bowl above a pan of boiling water, mixing in the cocoa powder and sweetener once melted.
Together we then spooned our mixture into the tray and placed in the freezer for twenty minutes to set.
And here are just a few … the rest actually disappeared rather quickly!
They really are delicious, perhaps quite rich for little ones so we broke them into smaller bits for W, but they do feel very indulgent. And we had great fun making them together.
I have one kit left which I can’t wait to try, though this one is definitely for the adults with recipes for truffles and even chocolate cocktails also included. Whoop.
So, next time you are stuck for inspiration for a birthday gift, or even a Valentines day present, why not check out their website for a chocolatey gift with a difference!
Disclosure: No payment was received for this post however the featured kits were supplied free of charge for the purpose of this review.
