We recently entered a competition hosted by Money Supermarket entitled ‘The Charcoal Challenge’. As part of the competition we were provided with £50 in funds to help us host a BBQ. With the recent birth of Little Miss E this seemed like a perfect opportunity to invite over a few friends and celebrate her arrival so we jumped at the chance to take part. It also helped that Mr B received a brand new Weber BBQ as his Fathers Day present this year.
Here is how we spent our funds:
ALDI
- Premium Sausage Selection 3.98
- Butchers Choice Sausages 1.59
- Aberdeen Angus Burgers 2.49
- Salad Potatoes 1.29
- Baby Leaf Salad 0.79
- Prosecco Spumante 7.29
- Cremant Du Jura 6.99
- Fresh Basil 0.78
ASDA
- Chicken Breasts 4.50
- Chicken Thighs 3.50
- Baby Tomatoes 1.00
- Lamb Kebab 4.00
- Dips 2.00
- Lemons 0.99
- Limes 0.69
- Rolls and Baps 1.40
- Spring Onion 0.50
- Brahma Beers 8.6
Total Spend = £50.38
This , along with a few store cupboard and fridge ingredients, made for quite a feast.
Mr B used his Weber recipe book to put together some completely delicious lemon-oregano marinated chicken. Here is the recipe for the marinade he used:
- 6 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
- Finely grated rind and juice of 2 lemons
- 1 tbsp dried oregano
- 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
- 2 tsp paprika
- 1.5 tsp sea salt
- 0.5 tsp freshly ground black pepper
This was truly yummy and we had a great time catching up with friends and colleagues.
The kiddywinks were kept happy with the bubble machine, cuddles and ice-pops.
And, naturally, the star of the show slept through the entire thing!

she looks tiny, and so gorgeous. Hard time in this heat to have a new baby, never sure how to keep them warm enough without over heating or burning them.

It is a bit of a juggling act!

We bought a new Weber barbecue last year, they really are good aren’t they, previously we’d cooked on disposables and it made such a difference! Looks like you had a wonderful time, lovely photos and a gorgeous baby 🙂 Thank you for linking to me!
