The toddler is recently displaying some worryingly teenage behaviour.
As he is learning to express himself and test his boundaries, and our willpower, more and more we are noticing frequent acts of defiance.
Playgroup is a nightmare. Hoards of similar toddleagers expected to play with a limited number of toys and, heaven forbid, SHARE them.
It would appear a fierce territorial steak is rife in the average toddleager .
Cries and wails of “Mine Mummy mine!” can be heard reverberating from every wall.
Here are things the boy has recently declared to be HIS:
- My makeup
- My hair straighteners
- My moisturiser
- The laptop
- The kindle
- The TV remote
- The DVD remote
- 30 day shred DVD
- His toothbrush…fair enough
- My toothbrush
- Daddy’s toothbrush
- My dinner
- Daddy’s dinner
- My trainers
- Daddy’s work shoes
- The baby’s dummy
- The potato peeler
- The broom
- The lawnmower
- The pram
- The aldi shopping basket
- My bra…when asked what exactly he might do with this he promptly stuck it on his head and ran around the bedroom. The toddleager’s way of effectively giving me the finger no doubt.
It is playgroup tomorrow.
Is it bad form to bring gin?
And just for a giggle: Red Dwarf: Cat-That Be Mine

Ha ha – all familiar. Ieuan (4) will stop dead, pull his “grumpy face” and fold his arms like a miniature rapper. He has also, like Ben Stiller in Zoolander, worked on an even grumpier face – his “spooky face”. Can’t wait for his Autumn look.

Oh I know that stance. Sadly. Spooky face sounds awesome, far better than ‘Blue Steel’ LOL

If you take the gin, he’ll claim it for himself.
Mind you, it’ll be your best chance for some peace and quiet.
jbmumofone says
I think you could be right. May be a little frowned upon though *sighs*.

Oh I know the feeling!!

I recognise a lot of what you said in my own sons when they were around that stage. It is something they grew out of but it is a long and tiring phase to deal with
jbmumofone says
At least there is an end to it….one day!
Melksham Mum says
Ha ha! Just wait until he’s 7 and he gets real attitude! Actually, brace yourself for your little girl for the attitude and a lot of humphing from the boy! There a delight *ahem* at every age! 😉
