At the beginning of the new year I am once again in resolution mode. I fear my resolutions are pretty much the same each year but I guess now is as good a time as any to make a list.
So for 2014 this is my plan:
Out with the old…
Time to shed the baby-weight. I am not doing too badly as am now only half a stone away from my weight prior to getting pregnant with Little Miss but, ideally, I would like to get back to my weight prior to being pregnant with the boy. I am an extra stone away from that. I am really, strangely, enjoying the Insanity workout though and aim to continue with this, albeit only 3-4 x a week. I have managed to lose half a stone in just six weeks with it and am really starting to notice some definite shape changes for the better. I actually feel really motivated and the fact that Mr B is doing it with me has been a massive help.
In with the new…slimmer fitter me.
Out with the old…
Time to fix the house. The damp at Casa B has now reached epic proportions and this seemingly endless wet weather has not helped. I fear this may be the year to start damp-coursing the downstairs which is a major job and will involve re-plastering virtually every wall. The floors also need desperate attention. Eek. I fear both Mr B and I are going to have to find a lot more work to finance it but needs must and I hope that we will find a way.
In with the new…dry, less smelly Casa B
Out with the old…
Time to replace the bedding. I know this sounds totally daft but it is one of those things I keep meaning to do and never quite get around too. Our pillows are looking rather old and stained, ew, and our bedding is quite frankly knackered. Not surprising as neither have been replaced in the last four or five years. This is first on my list of replacements. It is time for fresh new pillows, this time with pillow protectors, and some nice new cotton bedding. In my dreams I would love something really beautiful from Frette, but I may need to dream a little longer for that.
In with the new…clean, fresh bedding.
And finally, in my favourite plan for the new year there is no out-with the-old just an awesome in-with-the-new as I am to become an Aunty again! I am so delighted and we hope to travel out to Canada some time later this year for cuddles with my nephews and the new baby.
So, there we have it.
Do you guys have much planned this year? Have you made any resolutions? Do let me know below.
Happy new year folks!

Ahh congratulations Auntie! i’m terrible at resolutions although the new year always makes me want to have a big old clear out. We’ve done several kitchen cupboards and 2 wardrobes so far!

Ah, well done! You are way ahead of me. I only took down the Xmas tree today. *Ashamed face*

I don’t envy your damp proof course work, we re-plastered upstairs last year and that work was bad enough

I am truly dreading it. Luckily we are nowhere near ready to finance it yet so can put off a little longer LOL!

Oh that’s weird. I’m doing Insanity and have just had a damp course. it was very stressful as they only finished on the 23rd of December and the kitchen is still a mess but at least it’s done. I don’t think I’m going to be an Auntie though – well no one has told me any good news…

I’m also going to be an Auntie again very soon. Exciting!
I tend to put two pillowcases on my pillows – I should just buy protectors instead!
Carolin says
That sounds pretty much like my to do list 😉 Good luck x
Ali at kidschaos.com says
congratulations Aunty! I’m with you on the pillows, there’s only so many times I can stuff them, one at a time, into the washing machine…. I’m just trying to figure if I can re-use the pillow stuffing for something? throw them away… throw them away…. I’m so rubbish at that, probably put them on freegle… good luck with it all, xx

I wish you wouldn’t worry about your baby weight so much when you’ve had a baby but that Insanity sounds interesting, if not insane. Will check out that bedding company, thank you 🙂

Fresh bedding makes such a difference – it’s tweaking the everyday things you do and use that makes the biggest difference – I am a sucker for new pillows for just that!

I don’t have resolutions as such but I do have some things that I want to do. And I’m working on losing a bit of weight as well! We could do with clean bedding too, it’s one of those things that you don’t really notice until suddenly you realise how badly it needs replacing!

Congratulations!
We’ve also got damp to tackle but the company involved refuse liability despite them forgetting a damp course.
In with the new does sound like a good plan

Well done on the weight loss Mrs!
I’m getting rid of my pillows too – I can’t justify a new duvet even though ours is proabably 12 years old – hate to think what lurks in there!
