One of the resolutions at Casa B this year was to try and be a bit more money conscious, and live a little more frugally. One thing that we have found hugely helpful in achieving this is meal-planning.
Every Sunday Mr B and I will have a look at what is left in the fridge, or the freezer, and then plan our meals for the week. This has become even more helpful of late since, now heavily into the grips of our Insanity fitness plan, some nights we need to make sure that our meals are quick and simple to prepare so that we are not eating too late, or eating anything too heavy that we won’t really feel like.
Which all sounds great….only…by Wednesday we are often both a bit confused and have completely forgotten what we we were meant to be eating and when.
For this reason I was delighted when Tinyme agreed to let me review one of their weekly chalkboard planners. These can be personalised and come as horizontal or vertical planners. They are actually wall-stickers that can be written on with chalk, and can be fairly easily repositioned at any time with a little care without damaging the paint/paper beneath. They can also be personalised.
Here is ours:
We have only been using it for two weeks and are already wondering how we ever managed without it. As well as meal planning I think these could also be super helpful in staying on top of kids clubs, when they need their sports kits etc week to week.
They are available to purchase on the Tinyme website here and prices start at £19.99.
Disclosure: We were sent the chalk planner featured free of charge for the purpose of this review however all words are my own.

Love this, such a great idea. I forever lose the piece of paper that I’ve made my meal plan on, so this is perfect for scatterbrains like me.

I am exactly the same. I am sure I will remember it all and NEVER do.

I could do with one of those on the inside of my front door to remind me which day we need to take PE kit, which day is book swap day etc. Its going to be even harder to keep track of in September when both kids are in school
jbmumofone says
Yep, I think it would be great for stuff like that!

Oooh that looks REALLY nice! Love it.

They have some really great stuff. I quite fancy a ‘Family Rules” canvas too.

That’s brilliant. I haven’t seen these on Tinyme – will have to check them out. And good luck with Insanity.

Thank you. We got halfway through and decided I wasn’t ready for the MAX bit yet so currently doing the first half again! How are you getting on with it?

I SO need this in my life. SO need it. I did a menu plan for when I was away recently but on our tiny blackboard. It was three days before Mr B saw it.
I need to get one of these in our kitchen, as like you, we are trying to be more frugal. ANd I am trying to get out of the 5pm “aaahhh what can we have for dinner” and subsequent dash to Waitrose when I could have planned and gone to Lidl!
jbmumofone says
I know. I was the ska edging a mad Sainsbury’s dash on my way home and spending twice as much as I could have spent in Aldi for the SAME THING! Not anymore *Polishes Halo*

We literally had a conversation this morning about needing to start meal planning, so this would be ideal to help us get organised!

I honestly am finding it so useful. And the personalisation is lovely too.

I am just laughing at the midweek food confusion … I wont even comment about the mish mash meals we sometimes create from the freezer.
This is a great idea!!

Honestly, it may be an age think, but by Wednesday I am so frazzled that it is such a relief to just get in, look at the board, have it tell me what’s for dinner and KNOW that I actually have everything I need in the fridge. Much cheaper than a butler too 😉

This is lovely! I usually just stick a piece of paper with my meal plan for the week to the fridge so would be perfect for us x
jbmumofone says
I would highly recommend them.

We have a similar one from tinyme but its a horizontal grid with days across the top and then each of our names plus dinner down the side and each weekend I’m religiously adding things like swimming and parties for the boys and work things for me and Hubs plus meal planning along the bottom. Makes me feel like I have our schedules vaguely under control for once. Such a good investment!
jbmumofone says
That sounds supremely organised!
