As a Cosatto brand buddy we were lucky enough to be given a choice of car seat from Cosatto’s new SS15 collection. Their motto of ‘baby stuff with personality’ is absolutely bang on for this collection. It is bright, cheerful, colourful and can’t fail to make you smile.
The Boy was beginning to get too tall for his old seat so we took a look at the Group 1-2-3 seats and decided on the Cosatto Hug. This is a high-back booster seat which is suitable for children weighing 9kg right through to 36kg, so approximately 9 months of age until they are eleven or twelve. A relief that we won’t have to replace this for quite some time and at £200 offers pretty good value.
It has a height adjustable headrest so as The Boy gets taller we can adapt it to fit, and it has a 2 part reversible seat liner which can be removed as he gets bigger.
The fun bit is the design though. We fell in love with the Hipstar, and here it is…so pretty!
Little Miss was a bit cross when she discovered it was actually being given to her big brother. It kind of matches her slippers!
So, all good so far but then came the difficult bit, the fitting. It did promise to be ‘easy to install’. Mr B would dispute this. He fitted the seat on a rare day that he was alone and apparently the air was somewhat blue by the time he completed it, and he needed a beer. He does concede though that had there been two of us it probably would have been far less tricky so our advice would be not to attempt this alone.
Once in, the Hug has a whole heap of safety features. It has extra-cushioned side impact protection and a 5-point safety harness. The head rest is height adjustable and it conforms to safety standard ECE R44/04. It also comes with chest and tummy pads and, according to The Boy, it is pretty comfy.
And did I mention pretty?
If wishing to use this with a smaller child the Cosatto Hug also has a 5 position recline so you can easily lay them back a little when you want them to sleep. For bigger children the seat is compatible with both rear and front seats so can be moved into the front with you as they get older.
So, apart from a fiddly fitting, we have been really pleased. It is squidgy, safe and will be suitable for many years to come. And, of course…..it’s so pretty.

He looks very happy in it! Such good quality, not to mention value too, lasting that long!

He really likes it. I think we MAY have had him a bit squished up in the old one for a while, poor thing.

Such a wonderful design, I do love that car seats can be adjusted to last until they are 11 years old.

Hi
What’s the recline like? My kids are 5 atm, and still fall asleep in the car seat. I’ve seen reviews which suggest that the recline isn’t good enough & head still flops forward when breaking. Whats your opinion on this? Is the recline suitable for older children?
jbmumofone says
It reclines fully, very easy to get them to sleep in x
