So, following on from last month’s post which was all about the girls, as promised this month we will be taking a look at some Spring/Summer fashion for the boys. This is a market which many designers are now beginning to realise the true potential value of. 2013 saw Burberry’s sales increase significantly following the first foray into modelling by a young Romeo Beckham, and with his elder brother Brooklyn rarely out of the spotlight boys’ fashion is grabbing more of the markets attention.
As with the mini-female-fashionistas, trends for this year’s spring summer style are sure to echo those on display across the European Fashion Week catwalks. Here we will take at look at three key trends that could easily work for the younger market and I have chosen my top boys’ picks for SS15 from Melijoe.
Stripes
Who doesn’t love a classic Breton stripe? This year Gucci flipped the classic horizontal stripe through 90 degrees and showcased a heavily nautical collection with a strong vertical navy and white stripe across trousers, blazers and even detailing around cuffs.
In this vein I think the following two items would look great on The Boy this Spring, stylish whilst retaining the practicality that a young and active child needs.
Denim
With Burberry featuring lots of lightweight denim jackets this year, and Prada adding lots of top-stitched detailing for a more sophisticated denim look, it remains a staple of most boys’ wardrobes which looks set to continue this Spring.
I love this Aston Martin polo and the denim low-tops are seriously cute.
The Seventies!
Yep, you better believe it, the seventies are back. Although I am not sure they ever entirely went away. With Topman Design featuring flares, florals and bright psychedelic prints and Saint Lauren displaying fringed suede jackets this is sure to be a key trend this year. Whilst admittedly most young boys may struggle to feel at home in a pair of bell-bottom jeans, the strong colourful prints are sure to be popular.
For our holiday in Sri Lanka I think these swim shorts would be just great for the beach and the ridiculously bright orange jacket, teamed with some jeans would look fantastic on The Boy in the evening.
So there you have it, three key trends for SS15 for the boys.
What do you think? Do let me know below.

Luckily, I’ve never had to worry about boy’s clothing. Have to admit I am glad as when walking into shops, the boy’s range always looks so dull and dark. Love all the clothing you have included in the post – vibrant colours and definitely very funky! Sim x

Thanks Sim. I like kids to look bright. I hate seeing them in such dull colours, especially in Spring!

Despite having a two and a half year old boy I’ve managed to keep my head firmly in the sand when it comes to boys fashion until now – mainly as he’s just always been dressed in things passed on by friends and family! Guess I’d better start swotting up.

Eep don’t worry Penny! I am only just starting to notice now and The Boy is 4….and to be honest he couldn’t really care less himself, I just sometimes like him to look cute.

I love denim and the nautical colours on JJ when he was younger, sadly nowadays he shows no interest in fashion and style! Mich x

Ooo I LOVE those shorts! We’ll be doing a fair bit of shopping at Melijoe over the next few months and this has really got me excited about it!

Some fab clothes there – I find it hard to buy nice clothes for my son. It’s so much easier to buy for a girl x x
