Holidays are wonderful for families. They give you the chance to slow down and spend some quality time with each other. Often, family holidays are when the best memories are created.
Here are some useful tips for making the most of this time together.
Something to keep the kids occupied
As you know, my little ones love craft projects. They like nothing better than spending an hour making something out of card and sparkles.
Having something with you for your kids to enjoy doing in the evening is always a good idea. It means that if you want to you can spend some time in your holiday accommodation just chilling out as a family.
If you are staying abroad, there may be no British TV programmes available for them to watch, so taking a few colouring books or simple card craft kits with you is always a good idea.
A power block
Speaking of keeping the children occupied, remember to pack a power block. If you are taking a lot of electronics with you this is an essential. Keeping everyone´s tablets and phones charged when there is only one or two sockets in your hotel room can be tricky. Packing a power block solves this problem.
Beach safe covers for your electronics
If you are planning to use your e-reader or phone on the beach it is well worth considering buying a special case for them. It is hard to stop sand from getting into them, which can lead to irreversible damage. Fortunately, you can now buy cases that are specifically designed for use on the beach.
A spare SD card
Most people take a lot of photos and videos while on their holidays. It is a great way to preserve the memories. Just be sure to pack a spare SD card, so you do not run out of space.
A smart outfit for everyone
The chances are most of the time you are on holiday you will want to chill out and relax, which means that the majority of the clothes you take with you are going to be casual. However, it is always worth being prepared for something a bit more formal, by packing at least one nice outfit for each member of the family. If you see a nice restaurant you would like to eat in, it would be a shame to miss out on the experience just because you only packed shorts.
A nice maxi dress does not take up a lot of space in the case, so for you it is always worth packing one. Potentially, you can wear this type of dress anywhere, on the beach, for sightseeing or to enjoy a meal in a semi-formal restaurant.
Packing a nice shirt and some long trousers or a skirt for the kids also does not take up a lot of room. If space is tight, just make sure that they are dressed smartly for the trip to the airport. That way you can rinse that outfit out, and use it as an outfit for an activity that requires you to dress up a bit.
