Simple things that you can do in less than 15 minutes to transform your finances

December 18, 2019 By jbmumofone Leave a Comment

Taking action is essential if you want to get your financial life back on track. People understand this, but, the fact that they lead busy lives can get in the way. The list of things that need to be done can often be quite long. So, understandably a lot of people feel a bit overwhelmed. When that happens, it is all too easy to get stuck.

If you are in that situation, doing some of the things outlined below will help you to get unstuck. Each of the things on this list can easily be done in less than 15 minutes. So, potentially you can do them during your lunch break.

Apply for a savings or investment account

Taking action is essential if you want to get your financial life back on track. People understand this, but, the fact that they lead busy lives can get in the way. The list of things that need to be done can often be quite long. So, understandably a lot of people feel a bit overwhelmed. When that happens, it is all too easy to get stuck.

Having a savings account is an essential step to take. You need to put some of your money aside and do in so a way that makes it less likely that you will spend it. Having a separate savings account or something like a Wealthify stocks and shares ISA can prove helpful. For many people having to move some money from one account to another can be enough to make them pause and leave their savings where they are.

If you do not think that will be enough for you, apply for one that requires you to give notice before you can make a withdrawal. Just be careful to set aside enough funds for use in an emergency in a savings account that does allow instant access.

When you do apply, make sure you are using a secure connection. If you feel it is safer to do so apply in a branch. But, bear in mind that it will take you longer to do that.

List an item for sale

Getting into the habit of selling items you no longer want is a good way to make the most of your money. You can easily list something on eBay or Facebook marketplace in less than 15 minutes. List one item a day until you have cleared your backlog. Then, do it as and when you are finished with an item.

Review your finances

If you use phone apps, you can easily quickly check your balances and that you are not going over budget in just a few minutes. But, make sure that you also schedule half an hour to an hour every week to quietly go everything in a bit more detail. It is also wise to do an in-depth review every month and put in place any tweaks you need to keep you on track.

Make your own sandwiches and coffee

Spending 15 minutes making your owned packed lunch and coffee will save you a lot of money over the course of a year. Plus, there is the added benefit that you will often end up eating better.

Repair your clothes

Sewing on a button or putting a couple of stitches into a hem that is coming down does not take long. Yet, simple repairs like this can enable you to get weeks of wear out of something.

Welcome!

Jbmumofone is written by me, jbmumofone, and this blog is my baby. Although clearly I didn’t think this name through because I’m now a mum of two actual babies.

I blog because I love to write, and for sanity’s sake, and have been blogging since August 2011. So why not dig on in and explore?
