I have been tagged in this lovely new meme by its creator, the wonderful Mum of Three Boys. She has shared with us the 10 things she tells herself on a daily basis and is asking us to do the same. Isn't talking to yourself the first sign of madness? Or is that asking yourself if it is the first sign? I forget. So my ten daily doses of wisdom, questions and angst... Five more minutes....*yawn* Tetley tea = breakfast. It has calcium and vitamins...right? The scales are clearly broken again. ANOTHER grey hair. Are you kidding me? Is it time for W's nap yet? Do ...
Absent Parenting
Today I feel like a very much absent parent. I went to work today. Yep it is Saturday but needs must. The grandparents kindly stepped in to look after W. I came home. I was greeted by much excitement and a walking boy. I had missed his first steps. Because I was at work. I am heartbroken. And angry. Angry at myself for not being there. Angry at my husband...for things that are mostly beyond his control so that is not fair. Angry at the grandparents for not just lying to me, putting him to bed at his bedtime instead of waiting up to show me, and letting me think ...
Jobs…
It struck me today that I am perhaps not as enlightened and independent a female as I may have thought. Today a job arose. A pretty simple job to be fair, but one that I instinctively ran away shrank from. We are in the process of reclaiming transforming our back garden. It has been somewhat neglected for over a year and the neighbourhood cats visit way more often than we do, the weeds are approaching the skyline and we may very well soon require a machete to get to the back gate. So, the solution...dig up the lawn. It appeared a good idea at the time since I went a bit mental with ...
Death…
Pretty awful title I know. Is it distasteful to blog about death? I am not sure. I recently lost an uncle to lung-cancer. He had been a confirmed smoker, drinker, and perhaps partaker of other substances for all of his adult life. He was the youngest boy of a family of seven children, second youngest overall. You could say he was a 'black-sheep'...but he was loved. Loved by his parents, loved by his siblings, and loved at times by us, his nephews and nieces. He was also a total pain in the arse to all of the above on many occasions when a little too much drink was in him. He ...

Ok buddy. Daddy has gone boarding in Italy for the week. That means it's just you and me. You know I am not great in the mornings don't you? Open season…
If you ever start a sentence with "Do you mind if I ask...?", my advice would be stop right there. Chances are they will. So, any of you who follow me on twitter will know that on occasion over the last year a few people have asked if I am pregnant again. No I am not and yes I DO mind you asking, is generally the response. Followed by a bit of a rant. And a brief period of starvation. Thankfully the belly-busting is beginning to work and this hasn't happened for a while. Phew. What has begun to happen though, AN AWFUL LOT, is people asking if, though more often when, we will ...
This week baby I promise…
Well, we have not had the best few days here at Casa B. Poor W has had a horrible virus and gave us all a bit of a scare. We have had one very sad and extremely lethargic boy on our hands but, thankfully, he seems to be slowly on the mend. So... "This week baby I promise that however much mess you create, or noise you make, I won't mind a bit as I really can't wait to have my happy, manic, giggly boy back." This week baby I promise…
W and I found ourselves in a particularly slow-moving queue at the supermarket this week. Why is it we always seem to end up stuck behind the slowest grocery packer in the world, who will take THIRTY YEARS to find her purse from within her full-to-the-brim-with-junk-handbag and then, purse located, will discover that she has forgotten to get bananas... "You don't mind if I just nip and grab a bunch now do you?" Grrrrrr. Any-hoo...it was one of THOSE queues so W and I amused ourselves by pulling faces and laughing at each other. We do this a lot. "He has a really dirty laugh ...
This week baby I promise…
This year seems to be flying by already, can't believe January is nearly done. So, it is Monday again and time for another weekly resolution. We didn't do so well with learning any words last week with Dada still being the favourite by far. Ah well. "This week baby I promise, now that you are feeding yourself more, to try not to freak out each time your food hits your ear/hair/the floor/the walls/my clothes and will remain calm. Deep breaths. I don't really have OCD, honest." Please linky on up as ever via the mystical linky-list below and feel free to grab the badge if you ...
