Toilet Roll Craft: Farm Animals

April 2, 2013 By jbmumofone 21 Comments

W and I love to visit our local city farm and in spring and summer we head there usually at least once a week.  With all the cold and wet weather recently though we have not been able to visit for a while.

To keep ourselves amused whilst stuck indoors we decided to have a go at making some of the animals that we visit from old toilet paper roll tubes.

Our first attempt was a pig.  Here is how we did it.

Toilet Roll Pig:

First we painted a toilet roll tube with Mod Podge glue and then stuck on small scraps of pink tissue paper until fully covered, painting down any rough edges with more glue.

Whilst leaving this to dry I drew a head shape on some pink card and cut this out.  W then stuck on some googley eyes.

Once the body was dry he stuck on the head with a bit of double-sided sticky tape and volia!  A toilet roll pig!

Toilet Roll Sheep:

For this we used a very similar method only sticking on small bits of cotton wool for the body instead of tissue paper.

I cut a head-shape from black card and W stuck on some googley eyes and a bit more ‘wool’.

Again we attached the head using double-sided sticky tape.

Toilet Roll Cow:

For the cow we used exactly the same method as for the sheep but with white and black tissue paper. I also did a little bit of shading on the head.

And here is our farmyard trio…

Why not give it a go with your little ones?

You can find many of the supplies we used in my online Amazon store here.

Crafty crafty eh?

These are really lovely. We are loving toilet roll holder crafts.Love the idea of doing the face and then adding it on – seems easier than trying to get the eyes to stick to the roll.

Thanks for sharing on the Spring Carnival.

Welcome!

Jbmumofone is written by me, jbmumofone, and this blog is my baby. Although clearly I didn’t think this name through because I’m now a mum of two actual babies.

I blog because I love to write, and for sanity’s sake, and have been blogging since August 2011. So why not dig on in and explore?
