Below is a really simple Fathers Day Craft that I have made as a present for Mr B. It is an idea that I stumbled across on pinterest and have been dying to try myself.
Mr B is a bit of an old softie and loves to hang on to memorabilia from our trips away and evenings out. A random search through his jacket pockets can reveal old concert tickets, aeroplane stubbs, ski-passes, restaurant menus etc.
The trouble is we don’t really have anywhere to store them away so I decided to make him a memory box. It really couldn’t have been simpler.
First I ordered a small wooden shadow-box from Amazon and some small wooden letters. These are available from my Amazon store here.
First I removed the front panel of the box and using a very small saw I was able to create a small slot in the top side of the box. It is not terribly neat but this is not visible when wall mounted, phew!
Next I decided to spell out ‘TICKETS PLEASE’ on the back panel of the box. I considered painting these letters with acrylics but actually decided I preferred the natural wooden look.
The really fab thing about these letters is they have an adhesive backing so no glue required! Brilliant.
I then reassembled the box and it is ready to go!
I have started it off with a few old ski-passes and race tickets that I found.
The thing I really love about this box is that the front panel clips out very simply so in years to come we will be able to take out all the tickets and relive some happy memories as we sort through them.
I am hoping it will make a super Fathers Day Gift.
Now I had better go and hide it away until then!

What a lovely idea!
You know what would add a little something extra special would be to get some of those mini-polaroids that they sell for wedding guest books and take a little picture at each of these events so that you can attach it to the ticket when you put it in the box…
What a fabulous idea!
