I am sure many of you will be familiar with Sue Ryder and the incredible work that they do providing hospice and neurological care for so many facing a frightening and often life-changing diagnosis. I am also sure that many of you are familiar with their shops in high streets across the country. You may have even donated to them yourself. But how many of you knew they also have an online store? I didn't. I was recently approached by them and offered the chance to review an item of furniture from this incredible Sue Ryder online store and I was utterly taken aback by the ...
The Hottest (Coldest) Real Estate in Town
"For Sale: Two highly sought after, desirable spaces within a harmonious and pastoral setting. Nestled within a tranquil corner of a highly prestigious location and surrounded by tasteful, ornamental and timeless architecture these plots are sure to sell very fast so do not delay. The neighbours are quiet." What are we selling? My parents graves. No kidding. Having decided that they may well follow us in our move to the country my parents are now left with two highly desirable plots within the graveyard of their current hometown. Plots ...

Teaching Your Little Ones How to Manage Money
It doesn’t seem like two minutes ago that I was holding my little ones in my arms for the first time and, although I would love them to stay small forever, I am under no illusion that they are going to grow up so quickly that I’ll wonder where the time has gone! It’s true what they say - time really does fly when you’re having fun! I love being a mum. I can honestly say that it is the loveliest and most rewarding job in the world but, since my little ones have found their voices, I have encountered that dreaded stage of parenthood when the only words that seem to come out of my little ones’ ...
A Whole New World…
With The Boy now at 'big school' we are embracing a new era as a family. He could not have made it any easier for us. He has literally run inside each and every day. There have been no tears, no tantrums, no clinging to our legs and each night he leaves proudly clutching his book bag and eager to do his homework. I'm so proud of him. With school though also comes a new minefield for me to manoeuvre my way through-birthday parties. Up until now birthday parties for the smalls have only ever really involved family members and the odd neighbour. This year The ...

Hi, My Name is JB and I am a…
Hi, my name is JB and I am an obsessive compulsive...of sorts. Or perhaps I am just a neat-freak. Or maybe just a little odd. On arriving in the kitchen this morning I was faced with a sight that made me growl. Actually growl, out loud. The washing up sponge had once again been left perched midway between the two sinks instead of the obvious 'this is where I should sit, I am the perfect size/shape/everything-gap' above the left sink. I turn around to find Mr B grinning. "You know I hate that." "I know. But it's funny." It ...
#biteme
I haven't posted much recently. It's not that there isn't stuff going on in my life, or life in general, it's just that what is going on is massively hard to articulate and not all of it is mine to share. Writing about the Syrian refugee crisis I was finding massively difficult. There just aren't enough of the right words, or there are, I just can't put them together coherently. Getting involved with the Save The Children appeal was for me a no brainer. ANYTHING that helps has to be good and if my little corner of the internet can contribute then go us. The ...

It could have been us #savesyriaschildren
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." -Edmund Burke For several days I have been trying to find the words to write this post. Trying and failing. We have all seen the footage, we have read the articles and the more and more awful it becomes the stronger the desire to simply look away becomes. I know it. I feel it too. Then yesterday a photo of 3 year old Aylan Kurdi emerged lying face down, drowned, dead on a Turkish beach. His family having fled the Syrian town of Kobani, then denied asylum in Canada, ...
