Now here is one to cheer us all up... We like to talk things through me and the boy. We discuss all sorts. The recession, the state of the NHS, who is most likely to win this years Strictly Come Dancing. Here is one of our loftier debates... The boy is clearly a genius. Other Mum of One Posts that may make you smile: Let them eat cake...or just a boatload of Petits Filous? Ode to a new mum. ...
A year on…and NOW I can’t cope?
I have thought about writing this post a lot. I have even dreamt about it. It is a huge thing for me and believe it or not I am in tears already. And I still have no idea if I will publish this or not. Maybe this one is just for me. My beautiful, hilarious, perfect boy will be one in two weeks time. This milestone has been looming towards me with an ever increasing intensity day by day. People keep asking if we are going to have a party. Who with? I have lost regular contact with all my friends. Much of this is my fault. We moved, I don't drive, but someone did invent trains. ...

Top five ways to keep your man happy this Christmas.
RELAX MUM, I am not turning the blog all x-rated, deep breaths, there you go. No, we are talking gifts here people. Man gifts. If, like me, you struggle every year to find interesting, amusing gifts for himself indoors, and find the 'FOR HIM' catalogue section full of gifts that don't really seem appropriate for anyone under the age of 80 with their faculties intact, never fear. I am here to help. I have decided to put together a list of the top five gifts Mr B received over the last twelve months in the hope of giving you some inspiration for this years shopping frenzy. They are ...
This week baby I promise…
Well last week I promised to go easy on the trick-teaching and concentrate on the playing. I did. But the high-five is still going strong... Hope that you all got along ok with yours. Will be popping around later to have a good nose. So, time for this week's promise. Earlier in the week W went on strike at mealtimes and stubbornly refused to let me feed him. It then occurred to me that had I been fed basically just many variations of stew for a month I might refuse to eat anymore too. This week baby I promise to cook you more colourful food, with different textures, to stop mashing it ...
Fiction Friday #2: Where The Wild Things Are
Fiction Friday is the fabulous new brainchild of the dashing @homedad. I was a bit slow on the uptake last week and missed FF#1, but have managed to get my act together and join in this week, WHOOP. So, here is my entry. The night Max wore his wolf suit and made mischief of one kind, and another, his mother called him "WILD THING!" and Max said "I"LL EAT YOU UP!" so he was sent to bed without eating anything. To check out all of this weeks entries head on over to @homedad via the magic button. He has gone all Italian Mobster on us this week...WITWOO! ...
Let them eat cake…or just a boatload of Petits Filous?
A horrible situation arose at W's nursery the other week, for which I was utterly unprepared. When dropping him off as normal I was suddenly, unexpectedly cornered approached by one of the nursery assistants and asked... NA: So, how do you feel about his puddings? Me: Um, sorry, whose what? It was a fair question. He has been having his meals there once a week for a little while now but the subject just hadn't come up before. To be honest it hadn't really occurred to me because it is only recently that I have stopped sending home-made meals in for him to eat. NA: W's pudding. ...

Me-time, Schmee-time.
Recently the awesome Mother Venting posted about her me-time, or more accurately, the lack of it. You can check it out HERE. I sympathised whole-heartedly. So imagine my joy when several days ago I discovered that, due to the pre-Christmas drop in folks wanting surgery, I have a work-day cancelled AND a child in nursery FOR THE WHOLE DAY. A year or so ago my plan for such a day would probably have consisted of the following. Have a lie in. Get up, shower, dress, apply make-up, dry AND straighten hair. Go for leg-wax, hair-cut or manicure, or possibly all three. Arrange to meet friends ...

Ok, so partly due to the weather, and a wee bit of laziness, we only made it to the swings twice last week. Must try harder. Think he enjoyed it though. So this weeks aim... This week baby I promise not to bath you at warp speed because I am missing 'Strictly: It Takes Two'. I will make Daddy clear me some space on the Sky Plus box instead. Please linky up with yours via the magical linky thing below, grab a badge and please leave me a comment.
