Well, we made it back safely from the most fantastic week away with the Grandparents. Mr B, W and I were lucky enough to spend a week in the sun in the beautiful Greek region of Kallithea. The sun shone, the waves lapped, sandcastles were built and the wine was cold. And W started to talk more. And more. And more. He really thrived through the week, perhaps as a result of the constant playing and attention and the fact that he got to spend time with both me and Mr B together, something which we struggle with a lot at home. But his speech just seemed to develop really ...
Why?
ANOTHER tag! Whoop. This time courtesy of her loveliness, Stressy Mummy. I heart her verily so will give this one a go. Now I am not too sure of the rules here. Luckily enough W is not big enough yet to have mastered this word. I just know it is something I am soon to hear a lot of but, as yet, it does not fill me with dread in the same way it does other parents. I think this may have been how this meme began. The five "Why?" questions you would throw back at your offspring. A "Why?" parent revenge, en masse. Or do I just post five genuine "Why?" questions I simply don't have the ...

Separation Anxiety
As parents separation anxiety is something we will all have to face at one time or another. We have all seen it. The look of steely determination on a Mother’s face as she attempts to escape the confines of the nursery corridor with a red-faced screaming toddler wrapped so tightly around her leg he may well have cut off the blood supply to her foot. The screams of “Noooooooooo Mummy don’t gooooooooooooo” echoing across the playground accompanied by heart-wrenching, soul-destroying wails. Well today was my turn. Except the boy was fine. He waved me out the door. The separation ...
Five reasons I know I am now middle-aged
I have been feeling my age more and more of late. There was THE birthday, and the increasing change in hair colour. Can this really be happening? Yep. Here are another five reasons I know I am now middle-aged. Tuesday nights out are preferable to Friday nights out as it is less busy and you can be sure of finding a seat in the pub. ‘A new mop’ was the top entry on my Mother’s Day wish list. The desperately sad news is that I didn’t get one so this has now been transferred to my Christmas wish list. Jeepers. My list of things I keep meaning to sort out but never seem to find ...

Mum: Granny made your sandwich. Child: No Mammy who made the bacon? Mum: A piggy. Child: Mammy who made the piggy? Mum: Another piggy. Child: But who made that piggy? Mum: Piggies make baby piggies, who make other piggies and then we eat them. *DEAFENING silence as we all wait to see where this is going to go next.* Child: Oh. *Eats sandwich*.
