I had intended to spend this rather lovely bit of me-time writing a brief summary of my highs and lows in 2012. I am an extremely lucky lady this evening as the boy is safely tucked away in bed, snoring loudly through the monitor, and Mr B is currently slaving over a hot stove making what I am sure will be a delicious steak dinner. There have undoubtedly been many highs this past year, the biggest of which being W learning to walk and talk and becoming a proper little boy, full of fun, excitement and mischief. There have also been lows with the loss of both close friends and family ...

Product Review: 360 Toddler Anywayup cup
Last month W was very kindly sent the 360 toddler cup to try out from www.anywayup.com. We have spent a good few weeks putting it through it's paces and to be honest I have mixed feelings about it. I should state however that W LOVES it. He really does. It is always the first beaker he reaches for from the cupboard and whether this is down to it's aesthetic appeal, it is very bright and colourful, or down to the sipping action required I am not quite sure. The 360 toddler cup has been designed with a circular-valve system allowing your child, with a gentle sipping action, to drink ...
A Christmas Wish…
'Tis the season to be jolly, tra la la la la...... Up until today my main feeling regarding the upcoming festivities was one of stress. Stress about how I am going to manage multiple bedding changes to accommodate various relations coming and going and whether or not there will be a Marks and Spencers food store open anywhere on our route back from deepest, darkest North wales on Christmas Eve. Then I read this post by Kate Takes 5. And I felt like a prize turkey. This post has stayed with me all day. While I am wasting energy worrying about essentially nothing, there are kids ...

Product Review: Some rather nice boots from Barratts
W is definitely an outdoors boy. "Shall we go for a walk?" is generally met with an excited dash under the stairs to retrieve his shoes and coat and then an equally excited dash for the front door, whatever the weather. As such he is starting to wear through shoes quite quickly so we were delighted when he was sent a very funky pair of Kickers by Barratts to try out. First reaction was sheer delight. "New boots Mummy!". I suspect this love of shoes is perhaps something he has inherited from me and not his father. Initially they were a little tricky to wrestle on to his excited, ...
When one door shuts another one slams…
...and another, ...and another. Barely two minutes pass in this house at present without the sound of a door slamming shut. The boy is obsessed. He is no longer able to sit in a room, any room, if a door is open. This is not just at home either. We had to make our excuses and leave a friend's house earlier today as he insisted on continually slamming shut their kitchen door, thus rendering it impossible for the host to hear any further guests arriving, and despite repeated warnings from me that if it continued we would have to leave. It continued. We left. Only for the ...
