A is for Apple: Learning Letters with Marshmallow Painting!

May 9, 2013 By jbmumofone 7 Comments

This week we have continued our painting fun and also combined this with becoming more familiar with letters.

We are starting with the letter A.

Firsty I printed out a sheet of paper showing a large capital letter A, a lower case A and a picture of an apple.

I placed this together with other examples of the letter A, magnets and sponges etc, that I found around the house.

W and I then spent a few minutes looking at these before getting on with the painting.

I then put out a couple of blobs of red and green paint in an old food tray, and a few marshmallows.

We have had great fun using different materials to paint with, toilet rolls, potatoes and pom poms, but I suspect this may have been a favourite as he got stuck straight in.  Thankfully, not having seen a marshmallow before, he didn’t try to eat them either!

I tried to encourage him to stay between the lines a bit but, to be honest, he is still a bit small for that and as long as he enjoys it I wasn’t too fussed.

Here is the final result…

Now, what shall we do for B? Any suggestions folks?

That’s a really cute craft and would be great for my 3 year old. He knows his numbers but is struggling with his letters.

Oh I hope it helps. It is still a good excuse to buy a bag of marshmallows anyway! 😉

Bless what a fab idea. We are not on letter yet with my 3 yr old but I love the idea of doing this later on with him

What a really cute idea. Have you seen our letter B post? I’m sure that was the one when my son painted himself as a Bee lol.
