Our first review item this month is one that you really have to be a parent of a small child to understand. Do you have a fussy eater at home.? Do mealtimes often descend into utter meltdown of the " I CAN'T EAT THAT CHIP IT'S GOT BEAN JUICE ON IT." ....variety? If so this may be the thing for you. We were kindly sent some of these Re-play divided plates from 1-Two Kids to try. Cleverly made from recycled milk bottles they have 3 deep sections, perfect for toddlers just getting to grips with utensils, and perfect for keeping your fish-fingers away from your baked ...

Confessions of a Scootaholic (Y-Glider Review)
My name is William, I am 3, and I am a scootaholic. I love, nay NEED, to scoot. Daily. So when the Y-Glider Deluxe from Yvolution arrived at my house I was, quite literally, beside myself with glee. First of all it is green. GREEN. And everyone knows all the best things are green. The park is pretty green, bogies, peas...well peas aren't that great I suppose, and it does come in other colours too, but I love the green. Second slice of awesomeness, it is really light. Not so light that it would blow away, or topple over easily, but light enough that Mum or Dad can carry ...

Why I Fear For My Daughter
Over the last year or so I have received countless e-mails asking me "Will you share this with your readers?" Sometimes I do. The majority of the time I just hit delete. Rarely though, does a simple e-mail both enrage and terrify me and I have NEVER shared part of an actual mail on my blog before. Until now. This pinged into my inbox tonight... SERIOUSLY. So "Le Petit Organic" are patting themselves on the back for being organic, eco-friendly and sustainable, but what on earth were they thinking when they made a child, who must be all of about seven, pose like that? ...

Prize Draw: Win A Six Month Supply Of Ambrosia Mini Pots
We were recently asked to try out a couple of new desserts from Ambrosia, of the truly yummy custard fame, but this time aimed at the littlies. We were sent both Ambrosia Custard and Ambrosia Rice Pudding mini pots and we set about testing them with Little Miss. And me. I have to be honest and the rice pudding didn't go down too well. (At least with Little Miss. Mr B couldn't get enough of it.) However, we are at the early weaning stage of only just introducing lumps and I think perhaps it was the wrong time to try something of this texture. The custard was another matter altogether. ...
Encouraging Childhood Literacy With The Scottish Friendly Children’s Book Tour
I have always loved to read and have wonderful memories of learning to read with my Mum and my sister as a child. One of my happiest, earliest memories is crawling around the floor with my Mum putting together very simple words, each written on a piece of card, stretching in a long line right across the lounge and trying to form a sentence. It was a game that I really loved. Play-based learning has been a particular passion of mine since having my own children and you can find some examples of the things we get up to here. Bedtime stories are my favourite time of the day. The Boy has ...

Guest Post: Why Spring Is A Time For Family
With the weather improving and green shoots of life are starting to spring up all over our gardens and landscapes, the signs that spring is here are definitely visible. Spring is a great time of the year for families and here we look at some of the reasons why. Green shoots and working for tomorrow. It was William Blake who once called England a ‘green and pleasant land’ and this is no more clearly illustrated than in spring. Blossoms burst forth bringing the bees, lambs frolic in verdant fields and our humble gardens are ready to grow produce to take us well into the long, balmy days of ...
