One of our main aims when making the move to Devon was to try and live outside more. Today was a chilly Sunday, but a sunny one none the less. We decided to brave it, wrap up the kids and go and investigate some of the fields that we can see from our garden.
It is a pretty steep hill up to Highweek and Little Miss had been up half the night so we cheated and drove part way, dumped the car, and then headed out into the fields.
The boys faffed about with some sticks, as they do, while Little Miss and I went exploring. We discovered that not only could we see our house but we could also see right down the coast to Teignmouth and Shaldon. Just beautiful.
She was on a mission and soon we had strayed somewhat further ahead than planned.
Finally, we decided to let the boys catch up.
Then, despite the sunshine, we realised that we are not yet properly kitted out for the countryside in winter and none of us could feel our feet anymore. It was time to head home, obviously stopping to climb the odd fallen tree on the way.
In the car on the way home we discussed our lack of country attire. I think Mr B could really work the country-gent style but he is still rather keen on more city-slick ways. Yet, when we got home, he did go out and chop some logs for the fire tonight.
Perhaps this country life is rubbing off more than he thinks.
Hope you all had a lovely Sunday.

Beautiful beautiful pictures. I am like you, I want us to get outside more (even if it is usually me in front of the fire saying its too cold).
Thanks Donna. Am glad we made the effort.
Looks so beautiful! It is a struggle finding the enthusiasm for going out on a cold day, but always so worth it once you get outside!
I know what you mean. I used to hate my folks dragging me out for walks in the cold and now I am doing exactly the same to my two.
Looks like a beautiful walk and family time. Now, can we please have more photos of Mr B chopping logs please? 😉
LOL, I will ask him-he’ll be delighted.
What a lovely bright day fab photos!
Than you, it was a lovely afternoon.
Getting out and about is a definite plus of country living, I love it now. Mich x
It definitely beats the city when the weather is good!
We went for a walk on Sunday too. It was a gorgeous cold, crisp day.
It is almost my favourite kind of weather…but perhaps just a few degrees warmer!
So lovely to get outdoors and into the countryside. I love the photo of you and little miss peering out over the view.
I hardly have any photos with me in them as I am always the one taking them so this is a rarity! I am not very photogenic either so am quite glad it is from behind 😉
My perfect sort of family sunday, I hadn’t realised you were in Devon now. Looks like a lovely walk despite the cold. I hope you will join me for Country Kids
Ooh yes I will link up now 🙂
“faffed about with some sticks” ha ha . I can see it now!! What a great post about what sounds like a lovely day
Thank you, it was. I am trying to return the blog to more of a journal and this will be a lovely day to look back on.
We are trying to go for a walk a day now and it’s so relaxing. My views just aren’t as beautiful as yours x
Also thanks for linking up this week 😉
Thanks for hosting!
We braved the weather on Sunday too! I like to get out, Although my fingers did absolutely freeze.
Love the photos.
Hi,
we live at the countryside and often have such walks. Perhaps next time I will take more pictures and share.
Everything looks beautiful on your pictures, especially the cost nearby.
Monday Pin It Party is great, isn’t it 🙂
It is, thanks so much for joining in and popping by.
