Having recently suffered a #notnonstick tragedy of my own it seems I'm not alone. The struggle is real people. The irony. At least they taste good. Birthday cake fail. Potato gratin? Massacre in Park City. Happening right now. Cake 1, Robert 0. #nowmyeggslooksad. Now please go and show these poor folk some instagram love. They have suffered enough. ...
Puddle-jumping Pandemonium
You need chaos in your soul to give birth to a dancing star. - Friedrich Nietzsche It's been a funny old week. With my folks having managed to sell their house at lightning speed they unexpectedly, and welcomely, descended upon us to start some proper house hunting. This meant our normal Mummy and Emily day was shaken up a bit. We decided if they were going house hunting in Teignmouth we may as well head off to the beach. And we did. It was beautiful...and breezy, very breezy. So much so I figured it may be best to head inland a little and we went to the ...
What’s mine is mine…MINE!
So yesterday was a fun day, of sorts. Yesterday was one of now, since the big move, relatively few days that was just me and the kids. In Bristol I had these days down. Full on routine. Breakfast, park, Aldi, lunch, sleep, craft/bake, cafe, tea, Daddy home, bed. We all knew where we were and we were like a well-oiled, family-machine...most days. Since the move I seem to have lost my lone-parenting rhythm. Yesterday especially. Faced with a totally rain-laden sky our options for the day pretty much halved. And we needed milk. Stat. Knowing full ...
We Went, We Danced, We Honked #teamhonk #danceathon
Yesterday was a day I will truly never forget. It was the day I joined some of the most unassuming but most inspirational women I have ever met and danced like a loon for six hours straight. We covered, or at least attempted, 12 different dance styles in that time. We shimmied, sashayed, lunged and bounced until we could literally bounce no more. At the start we were like a super human, 2000 strong, dancing machine. At the end we were sweat laden cripples, lucky if we could even sway and could barely lift our arms. Everything ached. And we honked. Man ...
Confidence…or the Stark Realisation of the Lack of.
Confidence. Am I a confident person? I think the answer depends on where and when you may meet me. At work, most definitely. I love my job. I am confident that I do it well and should you happen to fall under my care one day, fear not. I am completely confident in my ability to look after you. At home, yep. I don’t have any illusions of being anything close to a perfect parent but I am confident that I am doing a reasonably good job. We have a happy home. We are healthy, we are happy, we are loving, we laugh an awful lot. I am confident at home. Except with an iron in my hand. There ...
Community Hits Netflix. Cool Cool Cool
I received an unexpected mail this morning from the lovely folks at Netflix. As regular readers will know I am currently a member of the Netflix #Streamteam and they occasionally send me updates of new additions they think I would like. The latest was simply THE BEST news. The entire five seasons of 'Community' are now available on Netflix. We are huge fans of this show at Casa B. For those who have not seen it Community documents the experience of a lawyer whose degree turns out to be bogus and has to return to college. He becomes a member of a small study group ...
Who Needs Tonsils Anyway?
As you may have guessed from the title of this post I might just be a little grumpy today. But, dear reader, it is not without good reason. Yep, you guessed it, I am in pain. *Weeps* Now I know what you are thinking but, no, this is not just any old pain, this is PROPER pain. At the grand old age of thirty-five *coughs* twenty-one I have been struck down not once, but TWICE in the last month with tonsillitis. Tonsillitis, can you believe it? It is something that primary school children are generally affected with no? Not adults, surely? I am sure ...
Country Life and My Netflixy-New Year
So New Years Eve was a blast. Well, as much of a blast as it could be with two small children. Mr B's brother and girlfriend were visiting from Italy and Mr B cooked up a storm. We are really trying to embrace our new surroundings so the menu was very much seafood-focused. We started with seared fresh local scallops, asparagus and bacon. This was followed by local Brixham crab linguine and we finished with a fillet of Dab, recommended by the fishmonger for it's full flavour, which Mr B poached in butter. Yep, you heard me, butter. 500g of it. Eep. So delicious but, unsurprisingly, ...
Happy New Year #2015
One of my many resolutions for the coming year is to be a better blogger. I have been abandoning the blog somewhat of late and it is something that I really do want to get back to. I feel like I have kind of stopped writing. At least writing about the things that are actually on my mind or going on in my life. It is not the journal that it it once was and I miss that. As the kids are getting bigger I am becoming increasingly sure that I may share less about them. Later this year our lives will change completely when The Boy starts school and I think this will also be a turning point ...
Listography: Top Five Films on Netflix
It has been far too long since we joined in with Kate for a Listography and this month we simply could not resist. As a fellow Netflix #streamteam member Kate is asking for our top five films on Netflix and here are mine. In at number one has to be Into The Wild. This is a proper weepy film for me. I literally cried for weeks after watching it and the soundtrack is just beautiful. It scores a decent four and a half stars on Netflix. For me it is five stars all the way. If you haven't seen it yet I would certainly recommend but have your tissues at the ready. You have been ...
