I am currently sat at my dining room table, watching the most amazing video, taken by the awesome PinkOddy, of this years danceathon on a cracked i-phone screen. Completely cracked screen, top to bottom. This crack was a result of me dropping said phone, as it was ringing, trying to answer it, whilst holding Little Miss wrestler-style under one arm, and simultaneously trying to prevent The Boy with the other arm from stepping in front of an oncoming cyclist. BOOM. Cracked screen. As a parent I am sure I am not alone in this. I have heard frequent tales of toddlers just “giving ...
We Went, We Danced, We Honked #teamhonk #danceathon
Yesterday was a day I will truly never forget. It was the day I joined some of the most unassuming but most inspirational women I have ever met and danced like a loon for six hours straight. We covered, or at least attempted, 12 different dance styles in that time. We shimmied, sashayed, lunged and bounced until we could literally bounce no more. At the start we were like a super human, 2000 strong, dancing machine. At the end we were sweat laden cripples, lucky if we could even sway and could barely lift our arms. Everything ached. And we honked. Man ...
Confidence…or the Stark Realisation of the Lack of.
Confidence. Am I a confident person? I think the answer depends on where and when you may meet me. At work, most definitely. I love my job. I am confident that I do it well and should you happen to fall under my care one day, fear not. I am completely confident in my ability to look after you. At home, yep. I don’t have any illusions of being anything close to a perfect parent but I am confident that I am doing a reasonably good job. We have a happy home. We are healthy, we are happy, we are loving, we laugh an awful lot. I am confident at home. Except with an iron in my hand. There ...
Monday Parenting Pin It Party #94
We are just six weeks away from our 100th #pinitparty folks! Can you believe it? I am so glad you are here and really hope that you will keep joining in. We have had so many great posts linked up and I have gained so much from it, not as a host but as a parent. I have tried out so many great craft ideas with the kids that I would never have thought of. I have made recipes I would never have come across. I have been honoured to read about some of the more challenging and even saddening aspects of parenting that you guys have shared. You have provided ...
Prize Draw: Win a Free Canvas and Preserve A Memory With Wall Create
I love photos. I take literally hundreds each week with my phone. And, sadly, that is where they tend to stay...on my phone. In most ways I have fully embraced the digital age but when it comes to photos, a little part of me yearns for the cameras I had as a child. The excitement of picking up your holiday shots from the chemist with little or no idea of what you had actually taken. The obligatory thumb over the lens shot. The moments you had completely forgotten about. The smell of the prints. Although I take a million photos each year I ...
Can You Be Too Young for Fashion? The Rise of the Mini Fashionistas.
I must confess to being pretty lazy when it comes to fashion and my children. I was part of the 'practical over pretty' brigade of Mums, keeping my children in easy-to-access-nappy baby-grows until they were two. (I exaggerate...a little.) Particularly as Little Miss is getting bigger I am becoming more and more aware of the rise of the celebrity mini-fashionistas which leads me to question, can you ever be too young for fashion? This is something perhaps the Kardashian-Wests are now asking themselves after baby North had a spectacular tantrum whilst attending Kanye's ...
Travelling in Style: The Cosatto Hipstar Hug
As a Cosatto brand buddy we were lucky enough to be given a choice of car seat from Cosatto's new SS15 collection. Their motto of 'baby stuff with personality' is absolutely bang on for this collection. It is bright, cheerful, colourful and can't fail to make you smile. The Boy was beginning to get too tall for his old seat so we took a look at the Group 1-2-3 seats and decided on the Cosatto Hug. This is a high-back booster seat which is suitable for children weighing 9kg right through to 36kg, so approximately 9 months of age until they are eleven or twelve. ...
New Baby Stuff, Where Do You Start?
I remember all too well being pregnant for the first time. Although ridiculously excited at the prospect of becoming parents Mr B and I were too scared to start shopping for baby stuff until we had our twenty week scan and all seemed well. Then, the sheer reality of the AMOUNT OF STUFF we needed to buy began to sink in. Where do you start? I am a list person. I made lists of lists of lists of the stuff that needed to be bought, borrowed, investigated, invented and suddenly the next twenty weeks didn't seem long enough to get it all done. Not only that, the ...
Monday Parenting Pin It Party #92
Happy Monday folks. I am hosting this week's parenting pin it party *shakes maracas* so come on in, grab a glass of punch and let's get started. There were so many lovely Valentine's posts linked up last week, you old romantics, it was hard to narrow down my two favourites to feature this week. I finally settled on these DIY Cupid's arrow marshmallows from Momdot.com. So sweet and just how I like my crafts, super simple! Definitely worth a pin for next year. Moving on from Valentine's the next post was always going to be a favourite of ...
Sight Word Scavenger Hunt
We are at the very exciting stage with The Boy of beginning to learn to read. His letter recognition is now pretty good so we are just starting to practice some simple words. To help him with this today we decided to make our normal walk into town a bit of a game inspired by this treasure hunt over at Me and My Shadow. I printed out some simple words, things we could easily spot, and then laminated the sheet so that it will wipe clean. I then punched two holes in the bottom and threaded some ribbon so that it can hang easily around his neck. Then, armed with ...
