On our recent holiday to Greece we would walk along the beach most afternoons. Each day we would pass a tree that had been decorated with multiple strings of seashells and old wooden spoons which had been painted white and blue. Each day my Mum would point it out to the Boy and tell him it was a fairy tree. On our return home he then asked me, "Mummy, if we make our tree pretty will the fairies come and live in it too?" We decided to find out. All you will need for this craft are: Shells, with holes in. Beads String A tree First we tried a bead to the end ...
Simple Valentine’s Day Card and Wrapping Paper
It has been a while since we have done anything crafty and with Valentine's just around the corner today we decided to have a go at some homemade wrapping paper and Valentine's card. Supplies for this are very simple so great if you are on a budget. We used: Brown paper Red paint Toilet roll tube White card Googley eyes For the wrapping paper we simply squished our toilet roll tube a bit to make a slightly wonky heart shape, dipped in the paint and stamped away. The other paint pots came in handy for holding the paper flat. For the card ...
This month we love…and mt Washi Tape Giveaway
This month we were lucky enough to be sent some lovely products from stonegift.com. The first is an amazing giant colouring poster from OMY Design and Play. These could be hung on the wall or used as tablecloths and will keep the little people entertained for hours at a time. We were sent the Cosmos design which is covered in really cute robots, spaceships, planets and aliens. I have to be honest and state that I haven't let the kids loose on it yet as it is just so cute and their colouring skills are not quite ready for this yet so I am saving it. It is just too ...
Pretty Pots: Easy Kids Craft
Ok so here is how to NOT make a pretty pot, at least if you do it our way. This has to go down as a major craft fail on our part but with smaller beads it might actually work. The inspiration of this craft came firmly from C-Beebies Mister Maker, during a thunderstorm, and facing an entire day stuck inside...we did what we had to folks! And the boy LOVED it, which is what counts. Right? So, if you too want to own a 'pretty pot' like ours this is what you will need: One empty jar Mod podge Glue/paint brushes Beads...smaller than ours, or sequins ...
Green Bottle Xmas Tree Craft
I recently up-cycled a green glass bottle into a rather pretty vase. The more I looked at it though the more it made me think of Christmas. I decided to have another go, this time making some Christmas trees which could be used as festive decorations. I began by painting a few old corks green. While these dried I set about decorating my bottles, labels having been soaked off, with gems, securing each with craft glue. Finally I cut out some cardboard stars, added some glitter for a bit of Christmas sparkle, and attached these to the corks with a cocktail stick and cellotape. Finally, I ...
Crafty Crafty: Pretty Upcycled Glass Bottle Vase
This is such a simple upcycling craft. I have recently been drinking quite a lot of Bottle Green cordials and each time I place the empty bottle in the recycling it seems like such a shame. They are a really lovely shape. Finally I decided to hang on to a few and see what I could make with them and a vase seemed an obvious choice. For this all you will need is an empty glass bottle, craft gems/rhinestones which can be found in my amazon store and craft glue. First I soaked the bottle for an hour or so in warm, soapy water before removing the labels. Then I simply stuck on ...
Fathers Day Craft: Create a Simple Memory Box
Below is a really simple Fathers Day Craft that I have made as a present for Mr B. It is an idea that I stumbled across on pinterest and have been dying to try myself. Mr B is a bit of an old softie and loves to hang on to memorabilia from our trips away and evenings out. A random search through his jacket pockets can reveal old concert tickets, aeroplane stubbs, ski-passes, restaurant menus etc. The trouble is we don't really have anywhere to store them away so I decided to make him a memory box. It really couldn't have been simpler. First I ordered a small wooden shadow-box from ...

Simple Summer Sun-Catchers
Hooray, it appears that spring may have finally sprung. At last we have some sunshine. In celebration of this the boy and I decided to make some sun-catchers. This came about from an amalgamation of ideas combining simple collage techniques inspired by A Mummy Too and some beautiful milk container sun-catchers made by My Little 3 and Me. For this however we used shapes cut from those thin plastic sheets that you find separating slices of some cheese, ours was Bavarian smoked applewood slices from Aldi, but any clear plastic would do. You will also need: Scissors Mod Podge ...
How To Make a Simple Drawstring Bag in Minutes!
I have only really started to sew in the last few months so am enjoying learning all the basics. I recently made a set of alphabet rocks for my son and wanted a small bag to keep them all together so decided to have a go at making one myself with some fabric scraps. I know it is very simple but I have really never tried stuff like this before and was delighted at how simple and effective it was, and how little time it took. Here is how to do it. First cut out your fabric scraps. For this bag you will need one 14"x14" square for the back and three 5" x 14" strips for the ...
