Egg-Carton Craft: Pretty Easter Baskets
This week I was invited to attend my first ever Google + Craft Hangout by the crafty queen herself, Maggy aka Red Ted Art. The theme for the hangout was egg-cartons and I saw some great ideas including cress-planters by Chris at Thinly Spread, paint-palletes by Rebecca at Here Come The Girls, and pretty flower fairy lights by Maggy herself. I must confess I missed a bit as I am not very techy and was unsure if I needed my own video connected so wasted quite a bit of time faffing about installing the necessary gubbins but will try and be more organised next time! Anyway, here is what I ...
Prize Draw: New Tetley Estate Selection Tea
The lovely folks at Tetley recently sent me a box of their new Estate Selection tea to try. I was delighted. Who doesn't love a good cup of tea? We are already daily Tetley Tea drinkers at Casa B but it is our regular tea. Our first thing in the morning, just got home from work, just fancy a quick sit down regular-tea. When we want something a bit fancier Mr B will whip out the Earl Grey although personally I sometimes find it a little too perfumey. I have found this new Estate Selection Tea to be the perfect compromise. It has just a slightly more floral taste than regular Tetley, ...
Product review: Magical Fun With Tree Fu Tom: Tree Fu Magic!
We were recently sent this six-episode DVD of Tree Fu Tom for review. I must confess it was not something W had watched much of prior to being sent this disc but it has fast become one of his favourite shows. Tom appears to be a normal eight year old boy but when he puts on his magic belt and performs a special sequence of movements, (that is the tree-fu bit) he transforms into a tiny but might little superhero. This DVD covers six of his adventures in the magical world of Treetopolis with his friends and, when help is needed, Tom can perform his tree-fu to summon up the magical ...
Top 3 Easter Crafts for Toddlers
Below are three super-simple but fun and effective Easter crafts ideal for making with toddlers. 1. No-Dye Spotty Eggs. Here we simply attached double-sided sticky dots to blown out duck-eggs and then rolled each spot in glitter. So easy but so pretty! I used duck eggs as the shells are a bit sturdier than chicken eggs but you could always use a hard-boiled egg if you are worried they might break. For full instructions and pictures of how we made them see here. 2. Funny Bunnies I love finding fun ways to use up rubbish from around the house and toilet rolls are no exception. Here we ...

On not being the perfect Mum
I recently came across this post, which was submitted as part of the wonderful Britmums carnival over at the lovely Gemma's place, by Mothering Mushroom. Rachel discusses the concept of accepting that as a Mum we should sometimes accept that we are 'good enough'. That perhaps our ideas of perfection are simply not achieveable and, most truly, that we tend to be our own harshest critics. It is a great post. And she set us a challenge. Ooooh I do love a good challenge. Here it is, and I would love for you to join in too... Firstly, list the top five reasons why as a parent you ...

How to make a Cotbed Quilt for Beginners, Step 6: Rotary Cutting and Adding Your Borders
Now it is time to cut the fabric strips for the borders of our quilt. If you began with a charm pack of fabric squares for the front of your quilt this may be your first time cutting fabric with a rotary cutter. I was terrified at first but if you just follow a few simple steps it really is as easy as can be. Before you begin cutting off strips make sure your fabric is folded squarely. This may well mean re-ironing the center fold when folded in half width-ways so it is time to get the iron out again...sorry. It is also a good idea to iron your quilt out flat at this stage too. Align ...
